gpu usage drops

Played some bf4 today, first it was all cool and fine but after a minute or so i started to get some serious fps drops, i opened afterburner and gpu usage was dropping to 0 for every 50'ish seconds

 

I don't think it is the games fault because it's been running all good until today..

 

gtx 660 oem is the card and cpu i7 3770 shouldn't bottleneck 

 

what might be the problem?

does rolling back drivers or installing drivers work. whats temps? did you overclock? laptop power saving mode?

I was getting some drops too then I altabed and check the MSi afterburner but each time your ALT tab the usage will drop because there is nothing on the screen just bear that in mind

this aint no laptop, it has been running good with current drives earlier, temps were 70ish c.

after the drops started i applied 105% power limit and increased coreclock by little and memory too, didn't change anything

otherwise on stock clock's

after the drops started i started afterburner and continued playing for a while to see if it fixed anything, no difference and gpu usage dropped in-game

maybe you have temps linked in Afterburnner, nvidia didn't mess with your setting. does your graph in after burner like a square function, someone yesterday was having similar problems, not sure if it was solved. does it happen in other games benchmarks? just trying to get all the info so when someone smarter than me sees this they have all the info they need.

tried furmark, gpu usage drops every now and then to 14% temps were same as playing bf4 70-74c

 

and played bf4 more, same issues, usually my fps is around 70-100 on medium preset and it normally doesn't drop under 60

nope. false alert, still keeps dropping down to 20fps
