Need a recommendation, noob when it comes to audio

I'd like to get some earbuds below $50.00, mostly i listen to heavy metal, rock and a little bit of rap. Dont understand the high, lows, vocals, stuff lol, like i said im a noob that needs help

The Xiaomi Piston 2, possibly. Or the Philips TX2. Inner fidelity does really comprehensive headphone review. Those are the two on their "Hall of Fame" that are in your price range. They seem like they are some really great headphones. 

 

I can't really vouch for anything in that range though, as I fell down the audio rabbit hole long ago, and my current daily's are a pair of Shure SE535's, which are way out of that price range. 

 

Another suggestion would be to look at any good headphones you can find, and see if you can find a clean, used pair online. (Emphasis on clean, and I would clean all tips off with rubbing alcohol before using, but it is a great way to save some money.)
