think my gpu is kill, other day thought it would be good idea to upgrade cpu on my desktop my friend had same pc as mine but with i7 4770 instead of i5 4430 like mine they are identical he gave me his cpu to use on mine and its been a nightmare after swap. At first screen started to flicker black on startup then i would get notification saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" then screen goes completely black and stays that way. Updated bios, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled em and still have same driver problems. Have extra ssd that i don't use and reinstalled windows on it and same problem, swapped cpu's and still same problems. GPU works in safemode apperantly its a driver issue but using any drivers makes my pc crap on me.right now i put i-7 back in and am running onboard with no problems, i have no other pc to test gpu. What are my options here?

Your GPU is not dead if it works fine in safemode.

It's a driver issue and you need to completely uninstall all traces of third-party drivers before attempting to install them again to prevent issues

but how does that explain fresh install on ssd?
