"Cores"

Go to solution Solved by Vavetti,

You don't have control over what core you're getting.

To see which core is currently running you'll need to go into advanced control (taskbar, right click on F@H and then advanced control)

Then you want to click on the gpu slot and you'll see FahCore 0x17 or 0x15 (or 0x18)

17 or 18 are the ones you want as those are generally the ones that utilise the gpu the best, 15 is outdated and less efficient (iirc).

So I decided to have another crack at folding :)

But I noticed that there are different versions of FAH "Core" that will produce different results with different video cards.

I have an Nvidia card in one system and an AMD card in the other, how do I know what core the program is using and how do I change it? (core 15 for Nvidia and core 17 for AMD I believe.)

Maybe I have this all wrong but idk.

Sorry if this is a retarded question, shame on my ignorant arse.

Ok, thanks a lot.

That clarifies a bit. :)

I am running 0x18 at the moment.

it is not a retarded question and we are all in a constant process of learning.

the specific cores usually aren't restricted to a brand, but right now. core18

does not cooperate well with maxwell for example, so those currently aren't

available to maxwell cards, due to some funky drivers.

it is correct that you will see different results with amd/nivida on the different

cores than what you might expect, but we don't have the option to cherry pick

wu's.

The client should mostly handle itself, just set your intensity preference and

make sure it works properly.
