You let me know if it's worth paying double for the 4440.

It's better to have more cores because windows is stupid enough to run updates and stuff and take up a precious processing power

Why would you have those running in the background when your gaming anyways? There is a reason you can disable windows updates, and they usually run at startup/shutdown. Anti-virus programs also do the same thing. I'm just trying to save you money, but if you want to go with the i5-4440 then go for it. Don't make up ridiculous claims and try to reason why going with a quad core is better. Windows updates/anti-virus scans? I've lost some hair over this.
