I don't think anyone would consider this crap but.....

Can I use all the parts from a laptop and put it in a pc case for better cooling?? There are a lot of questions arising here :

1) What will be the power solution here. Since a laptop uses a battery pack with a power brick. You are limited with the power provided by the battery.

2) CPU Cooling. It does use a heatsink with a fan. Indeed not effective with such a small fan.

3) Can a larger fan be used with the case?

4) Is the dedicated GPU soldered with the motherboard?

5) Is it going to drain my pocket?

I guess all the replies would be "Get a regular PC you ...................."

:P

Seriously tho theres many problems with this mainly mounting and the fact that its nonsensical :P You cant mount a standard heatsink on the laptop mobo and you cant just use the case standoffs to mount the mobo to the case. Why not just use the laptop with a external screen + Keyboard/Mouse.

Can I use all the parts from a laptop and put it in a pc case for better cooling?? Anything is possible :) (yes, but will require modding)

1) What will be the power solution here. Since a laptop uses a battery pack with a power brick. You are limited with the power provided by the battery. You could use the power brick still I guess, it would have to be external but I guess you could make it internal. Alternatively, you could use a standard ATX power supply and hook it up to a travel adapter for laptops(as in, one that can accept 12v like a car charger) and hook it up this way.

2) CPU Cooling. It does use a heatsink with a fan. Indeed not effective with such a small fan. Removing the laptops casing will help a little bit, but rigging a different heatsink will be more effective.

3) Can a larger fan be used with the case? Sure.

4) Is the dedicated GPU soldered with the motherboard? More than likely yes. Some laptops use MXM modules, but they still sit flat against the motherboard.

5) Is it going to drain my pocket? It can, but you can ghetto rig it for cheap(it might not be the most elegant solution.

Answers in pink ^^^

I have to ask though: What are you planning to do?
