Screen freezes while playing games

Go to solution Solved by samcool55,

Even with a stable overclock, to back to stock. Just for now.

If the problem is gone when running stock, then the overclock isn't 100% stable.

If it's still dying on stock settings, try the beta driver for your gpu, maybe that fixes it.

Hi guys I am posting here for the first time, and unfortunately I need help with my rig.

I have also added some pictures to help you guys see what the problems looks like.

So I have been playing Bioshock Infinite again and noticed a big problem. In the middle of the game I get a white screen and it stays like that until it goes BSOD.

The music is still playing and all but the screen is unresponsive. I thought this is a game issue but then it also happened in Rust only this time it freezes with a brown color but no BSOD. My FX6300 is OCed last month but only to 4GHz and I have left the AMD OverDrive torture test for 12h with no problems. Tried the test with Prime95 yesterday to make sure it is not because of the OC and the temps were below 60C all the time. It could be my R9270X from Gigabyte but I havent even tried to OC it and it is only 6 month old and getting enough power.

I hope someone can help me with this.

CPU : FX6300

GPU : R9270X Gigabyte 2Gb

PSU : 600W

RAM : HyperX Fury 8Gb

OS : Windows 7 64

All drivers up to date

Hmm, I see what you meant but I have been playing Battlefield 4 on Ultra since the OC for a month with no problems. And this was happening for only last 2 days but I will try the stock speed for a day or two. Thanks

Welcome to the forum by the way @TheMatrix179

Thanks man!

Soo this just happened...

I was going to get my CPU to stock speed using AMD Overdrive and I have noticed something really interesting. Somehow my GPU was OCed from the defeault 1400MHz to 1625MHz... I have no idea how or why this happened because I dont know shit about OCing GPUs and would never touch this. Should I report this to amd or something? I just hope that my card is not damaged or something because I heard that is a lot for a GPU and power input was still on defeault. I think I will not be getting any problems after I disabled the OC but I will sure call an exorcist or something to take a look inside my PC.

No worries! It's not bad for your gpu to run a bit too fast. It doesn't do damage to it. Also, are you sure you have an R9 270x? There is no card that runs at 1400mhz stock, the only one they have runs at 1100 boost, with oc from gigabyte, so i'm not sure what's going on...

Yes I am 100% sure it is an 270x, I dont know about the stock speed but the Overdrive for the GPU was set like this. It is the maximum and I dont know how much its like this so I got scared a bit. I diasbled it on so there shouldnt be more problems. Thank you for the help !
