Alright, so on my website, the computer repairs page hasn't really been touched. And I would like to get some rates on it, but I don't know how much I should charge. I do want a few choices though, since I don't want to ream people a new asshole. Maybe something like this.

BASIC REPAIRS: Computer slowness*, viruses*, physical cleaning**, etc. (*Pricing may depend on the complexity of the problem) (**Supplies provided by customer?)

INTERMEDIATE REPAIRS: Hardware issues*, hardware failure*, operating system reinstalls

CUSTOM PC: Parts to be provided by customer and built by me. $50?

Not sure on any extra categories and prices. :(

Do you have a legit business and this is your full time job, or just doing it at home for profit?

EDIT: You could charge an extra 25$ just to find out what is wrong with it like bs Geek squad does.

Quote my post if you need me to respond.

Right now it's more of a beta thing, since I haven't actually started to do it yet.

For the physical cleaning, you should really invest in a air compressor. If the customer had to provide compressed air, there wouldn't be much reason to contact you.

Although, usually a cleaning would be considered part of other services, but that might just be me.

And how do you plan on repairing complex hardware failures? You should probably have a small fee for identifying a problem, and then you can charge extra if you can fix it.

Phone around to local shops and see what rates they offer. That is what i did. It blew my mind when i found out what people charge for virus removal!!  Most big box stores in my area charge 100$+ just for malware removal.

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

I just remembered my dad has a nozzle thing for our sizable air compressor.

And see? This is why I'm coming to you guys. You're giving me ideas. I'm pondering them.

I presume this is like a part time kind of thing, in between college/uni/work?

£10 fee just to look at the rig/laptop (if they are dumb and say something like "my pc is slow" or whatever)

£20 for a cleanup/virus removal, and basic cleanup of computer (physical, or digital)

£15 to test hardware, like gpu/cpu/hdd/ram

No charge to order replacement parts, they just have to foot the bill for the item + shipping, but ~£10 instillation fee of said hardware

Build a PC - depends on the type of build, but as a rule of thumb, £40 to put one together. £10 more to install windows (with their copy, if they don't own one, they pay for a key) and £5 to install drivers etc.

To build a higher end rig, ~£60

Offer a cheap troubleshooting service aswell.

Since its like a beta thing you should really price your services competivley.

Some shops around me even sell really cheap core duo builds. You can make really cheap pcs, 100$ and sell them with minimal profit gain like, 135$ (Use one of those sites we don't talk about to acquire an OS.)

My friend got a virus removed from his computer and it cost him $300, he went to one of the big PC stores, pretty crazy. For small basic things like virus removal and cleaning, $30 seems like a reasonable price. For hardware issues, $60 for the labor and extra for the cost of any replacement parts. For a custom computer build, maybe $60, most PC stores will cost around $70 for a custom build.
