mobo whit raid

hello,

i want to make a cheap NAS but i found a motherboard whit 6 sata connectors. but i cant find if this motherboard supports riad-5

it is  the GIGABYTE GA-B85M-HD3 (rev 2.0), socket 1150. cant someone help my whit this thanks.

I don't think so, I can't find anything that mentions it. I can recommend you the board i used for MY NAS though.

I ended up not using the mobo raid though. I would recommend installing FreeNAS and using RAID-Z, which doesn't require the motherboard to support RAID.

While I was looking at your motherboard I noticed that 2 of the SATA ports on your mobo are SATA II, not III, so that's a warning.

I would personally recommend that you check the manufacturer's website to see if that motherboard does support RAID 5.

could you help my out have 4 x 1TB hdd and i would like to make it into a NAS whit the possibility too have  1 drive fail (raid 5 if i was correctly) what are the parts that i need i cant figur it out on my own

Do you have any parts and specs in mind? What type of CPU?

i thougt the Intel® Celeron® G1840 should do fine whit 4 GB ram i want too use it for backing up data and access it from out side my house 

edit i would this case lian-li PC-Q35 (or somthing like that)
