Hello,

My name is Alan Christianson and I have been a gamer for many years. I've researched building a computer for about 3 years now and have finally decided to get a job to work for a $1,500-2,500 gaming setup for gaming, video editing and programming/designing video games. There is one problem and that is I know a Intel Core i7 is a better CPU then a Intel Core i5 and that CPU means Central Processing Unit, but i don't know what a i7 is better than a i5 if you see what i'm saying.

I'm looking to build a gaming computer and i'm going to list several of each computer piece i'm looking at and I don't know if any 2 pieces won't work well together. (These pieces are off Linus 4k computer and all around computer videos) I need your help on wether something is a bit excessive and wether or not I can use half of the 4k videos computer pieces and half of the all around gaming video, computer pieces.

The games i'll be looking to play on these computer would be games like World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, Advance Warfare. The reason I want to build a computer is because as of now I have a macbook pro and I don't really want a laptop and was hoping to get something I would look more forward to.

(Prices are fairy accurate)

Case: Still looking into it, I'm thinking the one linus uses in 4k computer build.

CPU:

Intel Core i7 4790k (unlocked quad core processer with hyperthreading) $320

Intel Core i7 4730k (unlocked quad core processer with hyperthreading) $568

Motherboard:

Asus X99 WS    $480

Asus Sabertooth 297MK1 $180

Asus X79 Deluxe   $322

Ram:

32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133MHz Dual Channel DDR3 $460

32 GB G. Skill 2400MHz Quad Channel DDR3   $430

SSD:

1x Intel 730 Series 240GB SDD $170

2x Intel 730 Series 480GB SDD in RAIDO $350

Video/Graphics Card:

Dual Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB Windforce Cards in Crossfire $360

Duel GeForce GTX 780 Ti Reference Cards in SLI $530

MSI Graphics Cards GTX 980 Gaming 4GB $560

Power Supply

Corsair AX1500i Power Supply $400

Corsair AX1200i $300

Cooler Master V850 $170

(I know I did not include coolers and fans as I have not yet done research into those two things)

Now that you've seen what I'm looking at my ideas is the more expensive CPU with the Deluxe motherboard and I don't know what RAM to get, for SDD i would say the 2x and for graphics I'm also unsure, then for power supply i'm thinking the Corsair AX1200i.

As for as graphics are concerned I don't really want 4k resolution but it would be nice to have some good quality. I'm looking for a roughly 32" HD Monitor. I would also like your thoughts on having 1-3 Monitors as I'm always switching from different programs and windows while gaming and I'm hoping to have 2 monitors.

Update: Please let me know if anything here will prevent a future update or if there is a different piece I should buy instead of the one i've listed.

Cringe so bad.

The Intel 4730K doesn't exist.

Also, none of the X99 or X79 motherboards will fit a 1150 socket processor mate.
