Best file recovery software?

So i just got a phone call from my sister who has somehow managed to delete her entire My Documents folder and lost all of the data in it. 

 

I was just wondering if anyone has used and decent file recovery software (preferably free) to at least attempt to get at least some of it back?

Recuva by Piriform. Great utility that I've used to recover lost documents with.
