I have two GTX 970's and when I go to the "Configure SLI" tab in Nvidia's Control Panel and check the "Maximize 3D preformance" a window pops up to close chrome.exe and AutoUpdateWindow.  I can close chrome but have no idea how to close AutoUpdateWindow? I can't find it in the task manager or anything? Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you connect them with the sli bridge? Does your motherboard support SLI? These questions come to mind. Can you list the specs please?

try restarting and attempting to turn on SLI right after the restart, before things load.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Assuming it wants you to close "autoupdatewindow.exe", open a "run" bar (win + R) and type the following without quotations: "TASKKILL /F /IM autoupdatewindow.exe" and it should kill the process. Also, that is not something that to my knowledge needs to start with windows, so consider finding the root program and if not essential to you, removing it from startup services.
