Mayhems Red is bad?

Is it true that mayhems pastel red is bad for your loop? I heard that it stains your tubes and blocks the components. If so, is it only red?

None of the Mayhems X1 or Pastel coolants block/clog your loop, the coolants are made from nano-particles way to small to clog anything and people who've had problems with it got the gunk from other things like poorly rinsed rads etc.

 

As for the staining, yes all colored Mayhems coolants except for white can potentially permanently stain your tubing and water blocks. Red and Pink are the most notorious culprits so you have to decide whether you're willing to deal with it if it does stain your WC components.

 

As long as you have red coolant in there you won't see the staining and tubing is easily replaced.

Over time anything will stain a loop. It can't be avoided unless you go with clear liquid. That being said, unless you plan on changing the colour, going with red won't be an issue. And for aurora, only go with aurora 2. The first variant is only meant for shows.

The red might stain a little more than other dyes because thats what the coolants are made out of but stuff like acrylic and acetal and other metal products used for waterblocks aren't gonna stain that quickly if any. The tubing if you're not doing hard can be easily replaced and if you want to be extra careful when you clean your loop you could always run some pure distilled water through it for like a month at a time every 6 months and it would *probably* keep it from staining.

You can't see in a rad, most blocks are solid unless you get acrylic and no if you watch any of Linus's whole room watercooling videos the tubes are practically brown from bacteria but it doesn't transfer to the water enough to do anything.

 

Also like I said flush with distilled water for a month before changing colors and you should be fine. Could probably even only do it for a few hours.

You want be able to see any staining in the rads anyway. Res, AFAIK no. Tubing and water blocks are the ones usually affected. You can get water blocks that don't have clear plexi covers, like those from EK with acetal covers so you won't see the staining. 

 

Doubt the coolant would change to pink, the stains are usually hard set. Light staining can removed with baking soda and water or white vinegar and water.

 

So all in all, it's not that big of deal. There are ways to get around staining.
