Hello!

First, I want to apologize for any mistakes I'm certanly going to make :D

Second, I'm basically building a new computer for myself. Going to scavange some newer stuff from my current one (HDDs, graphics, fans, PSU etc) but i have a bunch of new parts waiting for cash. The problem is that I'm having doubts about my build and I'm wondering that maybe I can build a machine with the same performance with cheaper parts.

At the moment i have a Intel based system with a i5-4460 cpu and a ASRock H97 Anniversary mobo. Getting 8gb of ram, too. As it is too close to my current budget I started to look for AMD processors. Sadly, I have little knowledge on Intel and even less on AMD so I would be ever so grateful for any advice or tips.

Additional info: I mainly use my PC for gaming, thinking about streaming with the new rig (also some videos). At the moment I'm not going to OC, but wouldn't waste that option if i'd have the chance (I know I can't OC with the current plan).

Any kind of help would be appreciated  :)

That computer is great, the only real upgrade I would say would do much is an i7 4790k IF you REALLY REALLY need the extra horsepower for video editing and streaming and can justify the $320ish price tag (or whatever they cost around you)

When in doubt, re-format.

Naah, the 320 would basically be my whole budget ant i really dont need that many ponies in my small box. The GPU is going to be a bottleneck anyway at the moment.

well your CPU is fine the *GB of ram is fine and if your not overclocking the H97 Motherboard is fine

what do the rest of the parts look like

I'm getting a kit of 2x4 Crucial Ballistix sticks (1600 MHz and CL9), A Cooler Master K380 case (gonna have to change the led's form red to blue  :D). The graphics I have at the moment is a Sapphire HD 6670 1gb memory, but it works for me and i can upgrade it if i REALLY need to. I have a old 200 Gb Samsung HDD and a newer 1 Tb WC HDD. The PSU is also as old as the known universe, but it's running and has the juice  :D.

Anyway, thank you for your advice. It's been really helpful (Linus wasn't even close to describing this communitis helpfulness  :))

The graphics are one of the newest thing at the moment. Rest of the PC is holding it back. It sometimes even struggles with chrome :S 2Gb of ram and a Intel DualCore 2,33GHz cpu. The graphics can wait. But i agree with the PSU. I'ts going to be my first priority after this. As we are on this topic already, how powerful of a power supply should i get for it? 500W or more?
