this 290 is better and cheaper

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202123&cm_re=r9_290-_-14-202-123-_-Product

generally wd blues at 1tb but green is fine

there is definately a way to get more performance at that same price going the intel route. Don't have time to link anything but maybe some mid-tier i5 and respective motherboard most likely suggested by someone else.

there should be 1600 mhz 8gb ram somewhere at the same price.

I have changed some things around what about this

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qkN423

That looks ok. I would stick with a bigger SSD though (250GB/256GB) as they can fill up pretty quick. For the extra $30 or so, the one in my spec is over twice the capacity and you will still be under $1000.
