  1. Setup a virtual switch:
    1. Open the Hyper-V Management Console.
    2. Right-click your host machine in the left-most column.
    3. Click "Virtual Switch Manager"
    4. Choose "External" in the type section and click "Create Virtual Switch."
    5. Give it a name. Ie, "WiFi Switch (External)"
    6. In the "External Network" drop down select the network adapter your computer uses to connect to the internet (wifi dongle, NIC card etc.)
    7. Make sure the "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter" is CHECKED.
    8. Click "Apply" then "Ok."
  2. Add the switch to the VM:
    1. Right-click the VM and hit "Settings."
    2. Click the "Network Adapter," if one doesn't exist add one from the "Add Hardware" section at the top.
    3. On the Network Adapter page pull down the "Virtual Switch" drop down and select your new virtual switch.
    4. DO NOT check the VLAN settings, leave them off.
    5. Click "Apply" and "OK."
    6. The change should work without a reboot of the VM if the adapter already existed (like plugging in a cable) if you had to add the adapter however you should restart the VM.

For future VMs you will be able to define the switch when creating the VM on the pane after selecting the disk location and size.

I just downloaded and installed Windows 10 (build 9926) in Hyper-V and can't figure out how to get the internet working on the virtual machine.  I'm not sure how to setup my USB Wi-Fi adapter to work with Hyper-V.  I'm fairly new at this sort of thing and any help would be appreciated.

In the settings for the VM you should find a networking section.

Under Network adapter (in the settings) all it says is that "The virtual switch is not connected"  I think it will work with LAN, but I need to use it with Wi-Fi.

You have to create a Virtual Switch in the Virtual Switch Manager.

There you will be able to manage it, if your wifi connection is the only one you are using make sure to tick "Allow management operation system to share this network adapter"

Once done add it to the vm in the settings

Thanks, that solved it.  I was just looking in the VMs settings, not Hyper-V's main settings.
