I guess sensitivity doesn't matter anymore.

 

Time to connect my 250 ohmage headphones to a 1000W loudspeaker amp.

Is that sarcasm?

As far as I know, that's why it sounds worse on my iPad than straight from my motherboard. If you have a different reason, I'm genuinely curious.

I have no way of knowing what "worse" means in this situation, or what the specifications of either piece of hardware are. It could be due to any number of reasons.

When I turn up the volume, it's noticeable more likely to sound weak and strained on anything but my motherboard, so I assumed it's the impedance, since that's the main difference between that and my other headphones, which sound the same everywhere.

It takes a whopping 2mW and 0.3V to reach 100dB so I really couldn't guess. If it sounds bad then it sounds bad, but sensitivity is still what matters.
