As a y50 owner, I will say that the 1080p TN panel is horrible. Good thing they gonna change it to a IPS display.

Whatever, I got a Y-40 with 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, R9 M275, and i7 5500u (dual core :/) for $660 so NOTHING can beat that price. Not to mention the laptop is made of metal and carbon fiber-like material.

Y50 is trash. Seen too many DOA and defective units to recommend them.
