Dang, that's a lot of replies...

I'll look into them. I'm not sure about Far Cry 3 as I think my friend has a fake copy which I could gate. Blood Dragon, it good? Cost money?

Haha, which one do you think is better?

Which Half Life and which Bioshock... I have Skyrim on a console (no hate plz :3) so I don't think I'll get it on my PC. I've heard the Bioshocks are loads of fun and it would seem awesome!

Already on my wishlist for when I get this PC. I hope it's fun! Is it a pay2win game where there's loads of ingame purchases?

I think I may get Far Cry 4 on my PS4 and I already have Battlefield 4 on my PS4... (no hate :P ). Which Bioshock do you recommend and which Half Life? I'm not sure I can get them all :P

Dang, I've heard of one called The Crew... Is it good and worth it?

Ooohhh, batman? Which on in particular?

I'll take a look at it :)

Don't think I'll be getting Battlefield (stated a couple replies above)...

Ooh, haven't heard of that. I'll take a look :)

any one of batman games i liked most sity and origin

@razor767 & @GuruMeditationError covered most of my recommendations.  Mainly Portal(s), Bioshock(s), Tomb Raider, Batman(s), Deus Ex Human Revolution and Dishonored.

Even though you mentioned you're not looking for RPGs, you should really give the Mass Effect Trilogy a go, you can pick it up seriously cheap during a sale.

Also side note, even though you've played Skyrim on PS3, you should pick it up during a sale on PC - go to town and mod it and it is infinitely better than on PS3.  PS3 is probably the worst way to experience Skyrim.  Not hating on the PS3, but it is an entirely different experience on PC.

You might like Dead Space.  I dunno how good it actually is though, I bought the first two on sale last year but haven't got round to playing them yet.

People already mentioned the Metro games, but yeah those would be good choices since you like FPS.

Try Gone Home. It's a different kinds of game and very short but It's a good time. It's also $8 USD. Along the same lines, I would recommend The Stanley Parable . It's another game that is unique and it's $15 USD. Both of these dames are pretty much play at your own pace but you control the pace. They aren't action games but almost like point and click adventures. I would wait for Stanley Parable to get a little cheaper honestly but these games have some depth and tell a story or showcase some mind fuck experiences.

Paper, Please is a lot of simple fun with a surprisingly deep story that you will connect with on an emotional level.

For driving/racing games I would recommend Euro Truck Simulator 2. It's a game that is very calming and relaxing and you can really get lost in that world simply driving a truck around and doing monotonous tasks.

Divinity Original Sin is a must have. It's an isometric turn-based RPG where you play as two characters and dialogue plays very heavily into the gameplay. You can find yourself getting into an argument with...yourself. This is a newer game and more expensive at $40 but I would definitely watch some reviews or lets plays to get a feel for if you would enjoy it.

I tried recommending games that you can practically only find on PCs. Games that you can pretty much only play on the computer or the PC is the definitive platform.

Give Elite Dangerous a try. This is the newest game I have recommended, it just recently came out of beta. It's a space flight/combat sim, it can be compared to Star Citizen. Elite is a franchise and there are older games from it as well so a lot of people have a nostalgic connection to it. I personally think it's awesome because I like space/flight sims and I adore space in general. Be wary however, this game still has a lot of features that coming down the pipeline. I still have fun with it but I felt warning you about that is necessary.

Again, these are games that you can only play on the PC. The only exception to that is Papers, Please which is also available on consoles. I don't know if you previously had a gaming console, but I wanted to recommend titles that showcase how unique gaming can b eon the PC. Playing BF4 on the computer has its advantages, like better graphics, better control ect...but I wouldn't recommend re-buying it on the PC if you already fiddled around with the console version.

Hey :)

I'm planning to build my PC soon and I'm going to need some games to play!

My Build (if it's any relevance):

CPU: i5 4690K

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI PLUS (ATX)

Memory: Kingston Fury Series 8GB (2x4) DDR3-1866

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Seagate Barracuda 2TB (7200RPM, 64MB cache)

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Windforce (G1 GAMING)

Case: NZXT H440

PSU: EVGA G2 750W Fully-Modular

So yeah, I'm looking for some games to play once I build this hopefully in a week or two... Any recommendations?

I'm looking for any suggestions but preferably games that aren't too expensive. I'm hoping to get Payday 2 and I already have Borderlands 2. I'm not really looking for role play games or games with super long stories (while yes, Borderlands has a story but you can still freeplay, sorta). I like FPS games.

Would Portal 2 be a good option? I'm also keen to get into some racing games but I'm not sure which to get...

Please post some recommendations of games :)

UPDATE:

I'm planning to either get a 24" 1080p display or a 1440p, not 100% sure yet :)

Before we can validly make recommendations, It would be helpful to indicate what time of games you're interested in.

We can keep recommending entire bibles worth of games but only some of them may suit your fancy.

Well, if you'd like to reread my post, it says

I did say what I was interested in playing and what I like. I don't currently have a Windows computer so I don't even know what games there are that you can get on it are good.

So yeah... I stated what I liked, you just didn't take that part in.

Deepest apologies, I wrote that when I was really sleepy.

Anyway here are my recommendations:

FPS:

- Half-Life Series

- Bioshock Series

- Star Wars: Republic Commando (old game but still good)

- Borderlands Series (good for single play or coop play)

- Portal Series (excellent puzzle game)

- FEAR 1 and 2 (I don't really recommend 3 though)

- Doom 3

Racing Games:

- GRID Series

- Sonic All Star Racing

- Assetto Corsa

Also try:

- XCOM - Enemy Unknown / Within (a really good turn based strategy game)

Hope this helps!

Nah no problem.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go look into those racing games. Also for the FPS, I think I'll get Bioshock Infinite, Half-Life 2 and Portal 2. Also I have Borderlands 2 :)
