Hello, I recently aquired my second gtx 970 for SLI. Before doing so I read about many people having issues when doing SLI with different brands. ( Ex: evga 970 sc with zotac 970 amp) This apparently is very common and even EVGA has 970 that don't work with each other.

There is a 3rd party software called DifferentSLIauto , which enables SLI but just uses pci e lanes. So I had a pny 970 short pcb and tried a friend's 970 strix before buying it from him. It worked! I have the strix as the primary card (runs hotter) and the pny looks like a midget next to it

If you have a 970 SLI setup please post which combination of brands you are running, this might save someone from buying a card that just won't SLI.

You will get more even cooling if you switch them I think.  Usually you put the blower style in the upper slot as it gets less airflow there.

I hope that PNY is doing ok for you, I had 2 of them but returned them because they were so loud and were always at the thermal limit (80C) any time I was actually using them.
