Just a few questions regarding compatibility between case/sound card and monitor/motherboard/GPU

I always wanted to build a badass gaming pc but since I'm a university student I don't have the time to play much anyway and the additional money required for it isn't worth it for me. But I need a desktop so here we go.

Although it's a shame to get a 3440x1440 monitor and not game on it that's exactly what I intent to do. As I understand it I need to connect the monitor through DisplayPort if I want to get more than 30 Fps. -> Since I won't game with this I can simply buy a motherboard with DisplayPort connector and use the onboard graphics right/ don't need to buy a discrete gpu?

The case shall be Silverstone SST RVZ01. As I intend to buy an Asus Xonar Essence STX II I can still use it in this case right, because of the limited room? It would fit in the holder where the GPU normally would be if I understand correctly.

As time goes by I will update this as this build gets more fleshed out. Since it's my first build please bear with me.  ;)

You should be able to just use a motherboard with DP and use that, but it may be worth buying a cheapish GPU to help if you're going to be rendering or something.

As for a sound card, I would advise against one. Most modern motherboards have good audio, and the sound card is not much more than a placebo effect.

I have Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm as headphones, so I might as well go all the way. And the sound card beeing more than a placebo effect is propably one of the more controverse topics out there from what I've read so far.

But thanks regardless Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade  :P
