IP address invalid

Go to solution Solved by Dautin,

I am able to connect to the router wirelessly but I can't use the Internet. I can't get it to work with an Ethernet cb,e to my pic either. If I put my old router on it then my internet works fine.

All right,

The problem is:

Each router has it's own unique MAC address.  When you switch routers you switch your MAC Address.

In order for you to get access to the internet through the new router, you will have to call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and have them change the MAC Address on your account to the MAC Address on the bottom (or back) of the router.

They can help you find where the MAC Address is.  They will have to configure all that on their end.  All you will have to do is give them the MAC Address.

That should fix your problem with not being able to access the internet.

Let me know if you have any more problems.

Please mark this thread as answered if this fixes the problem.

I have been trying to connect my computer to my router but the router says the IP address is invalid. What do I need to do to fix this?

Thanks,

Bailey.

U have tried to go to the routers management page?

So you switched routers?

If not, did it just start happening out of the blue?

Are you able to connect to your network, but not the Internet?

All right.  I will walk you through how to reset your router:

First, you will need to go to your physical router.

On the back there will be a button that will have a label of WPS/Reset.

You will need to hold that button for 8 seconds until the router reboots.
Then attempt to connect a device.

After the router reboots, you will need to enter the “Wireless Password/PIN” labeled on the bottom of the Router.

If this doesn't fix the problem, I will walk you through how to configure your router to accept all Ip addresses, even though your router should be the on that assigns the ip addresses.

Let me know how it turns out.

Do you mean the wireless signal is not showing up on a list of wireless networks?

Are you able to access the internet through Ethernet?
