I recently upgraded the hardware in my ASUS CM6780 with a GTX 760(from

a 620) and a corsair cx500m (from a no name 290w). Whenever I start up it goes to "Reboot and select proper boot device". I'm wondering, when I was replacing the power supply I unplugged the SATA cable from the HDD, would that cause a problem? Is it something else?

Is it the boot drive? Then yes, it would obviously.

So everything is back on the drive?

I have a similar issue going on with my system. I was using my WD 2tb green drive as primary (it's the only drive i had). I recently acquired a Samsung 840 series 120gb SSD. I installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and installed everything needed. Problem is I have to have the HDD enabled as a boot drive in order for me to be able to boot into my SSD. It gives me the same error as evgeni43 "Reboot and select proper boot device". I was going to erase the win 7 install on my HDD, but I'm afraid if i do that, I won't be able to boot into my SSD at all seeing as how i have to have the HDD enabled as a boot drive to get into windows on my SSD. any ideas?

Double check that you have the correct drive as your boot drive in your bios. Sounds simple but I did some cable management and my computer was convinced that my cd player was my boot drive for a while, took me way too long to figure out my problem was the most simple thing I could think of.

I found out what was the problem.  I brought it in to Future Shop, and they tested it with a couple diferent drives, and then the drives stopped showing up all together.  Turns out it was my SATA Controller, and they had to send the board back to ASUS, and I am waiting for the arrival.   It may of been when I put in the CX500M,and knocked on it.
