So my mate was rendering a video a while ago and was using like 90% of his RAM, and whenever I render a video I don't use more than 60%. . . . Is there something odd happening or is this normal? . . We both have 8GB

I'm using 90% CPU but only 3.80GB of RAM atm

Is it the same program? Who's using a discrete card?

There are so many variables going into this I wouldn't worry about it too much. It can

depend on your OS (Win, Linux, UNIX etc.), the software itself, which version it is, how

the software is configured, how the OS is configured, what other software is running at

the same time and how that software is configured and so on and so forth.

You have to consider more than just the editing program - the system requires other things to run, and he may have more personal programs running in the background than you.

Ok I think I've worked it out (by working it out I mean googled it and seen someone's response to another thread with the same question)

Which basically said, Seeing as your CPU usage is full (as is mine about 90%) then there is nothing more for the RAM to take, so the CPU is the bottle neck. That seems to make sense.
