amd or nvidia for gaming/media

modder6646

im going to be ordering a new graphics card very soon and wanted peoples opinions on amd and nvidia (preferrably nvidia) reason being i have an amd card at the moment (nothing high end) but was maybe considering going nvidia this time even though nvidia seem to be slightly dearer for same if not lower specs.

some help making my mind up if possible ;)

And what do you mean by "media"?

It depends on the exact card and price. What's your budget and location?

this thread is not going to end well. im just gunna go on a lamb and say nvidia has more features, and the performance of each depends on the price range, where nvidia loses out until you hit the 970, and then amd goes down from there.

I say go AMD for anything under the price of a 970. if you can get a 970 or 980 then go with Nvidia.

I'd say R9 280, best bang for your buck in that range

For your budget, I'd probably go with an  AMD R9 280 with that price.

@zlolslavez How does the 270x perform better than the other AMD cards you listed?

R9 280 is around that mark.

AMD isn't as bad as it used to be, either way will work well.

would it be worth me trying nvidia or just stick with amd? if i considered nvidia it would be this card looks like a nice card

-snip-

It is a nice card, I love Nvidia, "yes I said it." but the R9 280 is a better option sir, in that price range.

Try to get the 280/280x if at all possible. That is a wonderful card for the money, the 270 is not worth as much IMO.

@modder6646 The R9 280 and 280x.

That's just my opinion, to spend a little bit more now but not have to upgrade as fast.

I would save up and just get the 280/280x on the next paycheck when you can.
