Where are you located?  If you are in the U.S, the Samson MediaOne 4a's for only $75 are killer.  You will need to buy an RCA to 3.5mm adapter though, don't skimp on audio cables.

As I've said before, I use Klipsch Promedia 2.1 for just listening to music, but I also have 2x Alto TS112s and a TS118Sub for more professional work.

But for ~$150 the Klipsch are pretty darn good.
