Hello wonderful folks of LTT! My sister's laptop Asus X501A has a problem with booting into Windows, when I turn on the laptop it goes straight into bios.

What I've tried to fix this problem : Removed CMOS and replugged the HDD, made a backup of the HDD and reinstalled Windows 8 with fast boot disabled and CMS enabled, I don't even know what these are but for some reason I'm able to boot into Windows now. I tried to enable fast boot and disable cms back with the new Windows installed, when the laptop starts it goes straight into bios again.

I wanted to try to update the bios but I was so scared I gonna brick the board. I'm hoping for some assistance to fix the problem. Thank you in advance!
