Hi there I am looking to painting the inside of my Cooler Master HAF 922, would like it to be black to some what match the outside of the case. I have never done anything like this before so I was wondering what would be the easiest way to get it all looking the same, and what kind of paint, do I have to put a primer on it before?? Any help is appreciated!

Couple of ways, if you have deep pockets plastidip is pretty neat stuff in that once your over the colour you can just peel it off. Alternatively you can sand back, prime and spray with aerosol (black isn't so bad as it shows up imperfections the least but light colours will show up mistakes quite clearly), alternatively if you have access to a spray gun they can make you life easy as well.

Basics for painting a case (I literally finished respraying an old antec case for my htpc 1 hour ago).

You must disassemble the case entirely.

Sand back you panels starting at around 320 grit and working through the grits to about 800 for a smooth finish (always sand in 1 direction and don't try and force it, with time the sand paper will do its job).

Mask and cover anything you don't want to paint (over spray can and will happen)

Then hit them with a coat of primer (I personally like etch primer) remembering to shake the can well, apply thin even coats and most importantly make sure your spraying area is well ventilated (Would probably recommend a dust mask for safety).

Once the primer has been let dry move onto your coat of which ever colour you wish, once again working with thin even coats (for the most part follow the directions on the can of your chosen paint).

Now you have 2 options

1. Leave it after several coats when you are content with the finish and call it a day

2. Apply a coat of clear over the top (will give a shiny gloss effect, not entirely necessary but it is a finish some people prefer).

Some side notes, if you want a really smooth finish you can sand with a fine grit paper and then once you have cleaned the surface again you can spray (this involves quite a bit of extra time but does get a very nice finish).

Also this isn't a professional opinion this is just what I have discovered through trial and error.

Just looked at that case, you will be requiring a drill to disassemble and then you can either rivet it back together at the end or buy some small bolts, washers and nuts and reassemble that way. To match it I would be inclined to go for a matt black without clear coat (or a very light clear coat).

You will need to use primer, and depending if there is a glossy finish on the inside, you may need to sand it a bit. To avoid any dripping, I recommend a matte finish on the inside. I spray painted the inside of my first case, and it turned out great. This shouldn't be a one day project, spread it out over at least three and take your time! Don't rush!
