I'm thinking I'm probably going to feel kind of stupid by the end of writing this, but here goes.

When I built my PC last year, I bought a GTX 770. A little while later, I bought a second. Probably not the greatest of investments seeing as I paid around $450 per card. That being said, I also got them before the 780s dropped in price, so pricing between the 770 and 780 was around what the pricing is like on the 970 and 980 right now. Specifically with all the talk of Vram and the way games are looking these days, I'm beginning to doubt whether or not the 2GB is enough. Considering I'm maxing that with say, Skyrim for example.

Hypothetically, if I were to upgrade, is there anything on the market right now that would be worth the upgrade. I'm assuming I'll probably be able to recoup around $500-$550 by selling the pair of them.

So, for the money I could get:

-Any GTX 970  @ $500ish

-Any GTX 980 @ $750-$850 (Depending on model)

-Saphire R9 290X Vapor-X 8GB for $600 (Only one that I really care for that's available)

-R9 295x2 for $1000-1100

I'm looking to eventually get a 1440p 144Hz monitor when there's an option that isn't the $1000 RoG Swift. I might as well say when there's an option that isn't that one monitor that fits that description

Thoughts? Opinions?

I'd stay with the 770's in SLI and wait for the new AMD cards or the next nVidia series. Your cards have more than enough power.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.
