Posted February 4, 2015 So ever since I got my GTX 970 it's been nothing but hell. Driver issues left and right, and every now and again my clocks would be pinned at their base clock until I reinstalled drivers... So I thought, "Fuck it, I don't have anything important on my SSD, lets format it and reinstall Windows," but look at me now, the only thing the reinstall fixed was my random lockups the fucking card was giving me... Now when I reinstall my drivers it doesn't fix my issue with the clocks, it is literally stuck and pinned at 1114Mhz on the core... I have to run the fans on it just to keep it from idling at 55C because of this. What should I do about it, I'd try getting ahold of the horrid Asus support, but they aren't available right now... TL;DR, My 970 is stuck at base clocks idling, nothing is resolving the issue, even a reinstall of Windows didn't help, and its pissing me off. Posted February 4, 2015 If you really don't care about the extras Nvidia offers look at picking up an R9 290 or 290X which can he be had for far less at times if you keep up on sales right now. Ask for a refund on the card. Heck even if you don't want to get an AMD card ask for a refund on the GTX 970 and buy something older and temporary from Nvidia on sale or used. Too many ****ing games! Posted February 4, 2015 My 970 does the same thing except it runs at 899MHz and sometimes bumps up to 1113MHz. Not a huge deal to me as I always have the fans @ 60%. Posted February 4, 2015 I've tried adaptive and maximum, nothing at all... Disconnect your second monitor and restart your system and see if it downclocks then. K-boost is EVGA only and that would cause it to be stuck at boost clocks... I think it is a hardware related issue if completely reinstalling Windows didn't help. Posted February 4, 2015 K-boost is EVGA only and that would cause it to be stuck at boost clocks... I think it is a hardware related issue if completely reinstalling Windows didn't help. Last I knew MSI AB had it. No like, I'm pretty sure its for EVGA cards only... And this weekend I might as well take my brothers rig and hope he doesn't mind and throw the 970 in that and see if it does the same.. I would toss it in the Dell next to me... But it has a terrible PSU and motherboard. I would point out that your signature states that yours is OC'd to like 1500 Hell, I played hardline beta all night and my fans didn't even need to turn on. Granted the beta is set to "medium" graphics (my ass, that better be low) Didn't even push my GPU core to 90% Ketchup is better than mustard. GUI is better than Command Line Interface. Also, talking to someone from their customer support. He says it is most likely the card... And to test in another rig, so I'll need to steal my brothers rig and test it in that hopefully this weekend.
