Okay, so I've been doing some digging and I think I found my complete list this will be my last part list update.

As always suggestions below.

Note: I chose the case because I plan to do a custom loop when I have more knowledge and experience. Next this is a Streaming, Editing, and Gaming oriented PC. Lastly, I plan to overclock this build as far as it can go.

Looks great to me! Obviously, there are cheaper alternatives to your parts but this'll be a beast.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Is an extra 500 Mb worth 150? I mean the 970's are still a beast especially the AMP Extreme's.

Also, the 450D won't fit my radiator.

So.. since you didn't state the build purpose, I'll assume gaming (that's what most people ask advice for).

Anyway, the build is all wrong:

  1. I have never heard of that cooler. It might be good, might be bad, I don't know.
  2. Get cheaper mobo. Linus himself already showed us, there's no gain in going with a high end mobo. Get the cheapest z97 with SLI. Maybe pay a bit extra for color matching, but THAT'S IT. Don't waste your money.
  3. Get a cheaper RAM. Again, Linus showed us, NO POINT IN GETTING 2400MHZ. 1600 is just as good, for 50$ less.
  4. You don't need 500gb SSD. 256 would have been plenty.
  5. Zotac AMP. Expensive, and crappy. Holly cow. Throw those away. Now. 2 MSI Gaming 4g for better balance or 2 Asus Strix for better price.
  6. 300$ for a case??? Waa--!? U stupid?
  7. Change PSU. 650w. 80+ Gold. A 850w will be operating outside of it's best wattage. And, +Platinum is useless, it's just as good as +gold during half wattage usage, but costs a lot more. Bro, just trust me on this one, the PSU you choose is bad.

What to do with the money you saved: spend it on getting a 2011 socket CPU. Use it to buy the monitors, if you need them. Or just straight up save it, 500$ is a lot.

2560 x 1440, Spec Ops, Strat games, Shadow of Mordor, Ultra Modded Skyrim, and The Witcher 3 (but let's face it that'll turn into what Crysis 3 was, a game so detailed it took a new generation of graphics cards to play it at 60fps).

Then it's my opinion that sli 980's would be a better investment if you can reallocate the budget. There's some overkill with the power supply and the RAM that can be shaven off.

1: I know the cooler's good, my buddy has it and there are several great reviews from including ones from Tek Syndicate, and Newegg

2: This is a when it comes to the Mobo I chose that one because it looked nice and this matched the color, I know they have no significant increase in anything, it was more of a personal design choice.

3: This isn't a cheap build and I don't intend on upgrading it too often so I felt that this was a middle ground and this isn't just for gaming and I know that RAM speed has little to do with performance in gaming.

4: for some "200" is plenty, those people also only get 1tb HDD, I'm also doing streaming, and editing, I don't like loading screens.

5: Have you used it? Also,

And our very own Linus
And to boot the AMP Extreme performed better than the Strix card did, what about better performance? So no it's not a piece of crap.

6: This would be a legitimate argument if your only complaint wasn't just the case price, the case can support the radiator I want has logical cable grommets, and has room for the custom loop I want to put in it eventually. (Go to the top of the thread)

7: Overclocking, future parts, a PSU isn't fun to take out once installed.

I guess you should have mentioned what you would do with your pc. Anyway,

  1. The RAM point stands. If it was only a 10$ upgrade from a regular 1600 kit, I would totally agree with you. But it's a 50$ change. That's about 40% more money, for 0 performance.
  2. About the 970s. I know that they fare better than Strix cards. With one difference: the strix is quieter, at a MUCH lower price. If you think you need more performance, get the MSI, as I suggest. It's more expensive than the Strix, but just as quiet, and still for a much lower price. And the MSI will also surpass the Zotac, once both cards are OC to the max. Still not convinced? Then get the G1. That card WILL be better than the zotac in performance, and WILL be cheaper. Please understand. The Zotac Amp is not worth it. Don't use your money on that, use it on somewhere else in the build.
  3. As said, you'll be fine with only 750w. As far as SLI goes, you'll never reach that high (unless you are doing quad). And you'd need an R9 295x2 to get to about 650w real wattage. But it's okay to get a 850... I guess. But don't get Platinum. Get gold. If you understand what those ratings are, you'll realize they are just asking a lot of money for a useless feature.

If the plan is to move to a custom loop did you consider a cpu cooler like the Swiftech H240-X? (It can be tough to get. I believe NCIX is carrying the unit but is chronically short of stock.) The advantage is that is is designed to be extensible into a custom loop.

Have you checked to see that there are water blocks for the Zotac gpu?

As good a psu as the HX-850i is, EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR is better.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I'm really looking for a 360 radiator, and I couldn't find any. But thank you, now I know where to get parts when I want to do the custom loop.

Also the power supply, I'm trying to stick with braided cables, can I get fully braided cables for it? Truthfully that's a big deal breaker for me if not.

Swiftech does have the H320. It is also extensible. But I am not sure anyone is carrying it in the US. It is available from NCIX Canada.

Swiftech does have the H320. It is also extensible. But I am not sure anyone is carrying it in the US. It is available from NCIX Canada.

Ya I don't think I'll go with Swifttech right now, when I upgrade to my loop I probably will but there's just something off about it.

As for the power supply I'll look into it a bit more, thank you.
