Recently a few friends and I moved into a new house where we were able to get connected to the NBN (Australia's National Broadband Network) and after we were using it for a little while we were quite surprised to find out that on WiFi we were being disconnected from the internet for a few second every 10 minutes or so.

We are not sure what is causing it exactly but we have tried multiple WiFi routers and they both seem to be doing the exact same thing regardless of how they are set up.

My next option would be to buy a switch and connect it directly to the NBN box, then from that run a long Ethernet cable to my room and connect it to another switch to give me enough ports for my devices (PC, PS4, TV).

If this worked then we would probably just run a cable to every room and then they can have their own switch at their end with just a WiFi router on the main switch next to the NBN box for devices like mobile phones and laptops.

I was thinking something like this http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=11562 would do fine in a home environment where we mainly play games and stream movies from a media pc through the house.

Any Feedback on the Ethernet idea or suggestions on ways to fix the WiFi would be greatly appreciated.
