Hi Guys.

This is going to be the first computer I've ever built, and I've done my research, but I wanna make sure I haven't done anything dumb, just basically checking in terms of compatibility and suitability. I'm gonna be using the computer mainly for Flight Simming (which is a big CPU killer rather than GPU), However I do use it for a limited number of games as well.

Here it is: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/alexdiederich/saved/4q8zK8

Yes, there is no GPU there, I recently bought a GTX 750 Ti and am using it in my current system, and I'm really happy with its performance, and I don't feel the need to upgrade GPU's yet.

I plan to store just the OS and Flight Simulator on the SSD, and everything else will be on the 2TB HDD. The Flight Sim Folder can and has reached over 150GB in the past, which is the reason I've gone with a 240GB SSD.

I also plan to overclock the 4690K, hence why I chose the H100i.

Appreciate the feedback,

Alex

Kingston really screwed up the NAND flash on that SSD. It used to be good, but now it's horrible. I do not believe I am mistaken, but I might be.

this. they released the V300 as a great price/performance SSD, but then a couple months after it was released they changed some of the components to cheaper, low quality stuff as a bait-and-switch.

The performance of the new ones is on par with some hard drives.

INTEL CORE I5 4670K | NVIDIA GTX 980 | NOCTUA NH-L9i | GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI | KINGSTON 120GB V300

CM STORM QUICKFIRE TK | BENQ XL2420TE | ROCCAT SAVU | FRACTAL DEFINE R4

I'd go as far as to say most hard drives. I've seen it as low as 170/130. Older brother had bought one, benchmarked it, and returned it.

From the data I have seen, these are exaggerations. The V300 is not swift and the manufacturer acted egregiously in quietly switching NAND parts after sending out reviewer samples, but it is actually faster than a number of older model ssd and certainly faster than hdd.

I do avoid the model if possible because I would like to discourage manufacturers from practices intended to fool customers. But if it is a question of a V300 or no ssd, I would choose the V300 every time.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
