Why are GTX 780's still so highly priced?

Thelillypad123

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda bummed I haven't been able to justify getting my second msi gtx 780 lightning addition. But why haven't prices for these cards gone down?

The price will go down eventually, it's still high up primarily because the 780 is still a great card.

Probably because the high price of the 700 series will push people to go for the new 900 series.

Consequentially, this also causes people to go AMD.

Agreed, although the 970 is freaking amazingly efficient and cost-effective.

That's how it always goes. Why would nvidia sell the last of the prior gen GPUs at a lose if they can sell them at a profit margin ?

There was a huge price drop on them right after nvidia launched the 900 series cards. However as supply diminished, the prices started going up again. Retailers know people still want to upgrade their existing systems by getting another 780 or 780ti rather than selling it for a loss and getting 2 of the newer cards, so they charge more.

Same thing with the 600 series. I'm about to jump on a GTX 680, which is still a very powerful card (680=770, 670=760) for only $150
