See if you the communication interface between motherboard and drive is AHCI so that you can enable trim. This can be found in BIOS probably under something like storage setting or connections.

Then disable scheduled defragmenting on windows since SSDs don't need it.

Other than than that I don't think there are much that you can do because it is a hardware limitation.

I'd highly recommend getting TRIM. I'd explain it, but I think Linus can do it better. Also, SATA 1 isn't terrible, and with the SSD you'll be reducing seek times and load time regardless of whether it was SATA2 or not. I'm not sure you'll notice it unless you're transferring or working on very large files.
