Cpu- intel i7 3770 with Enermax heatsink

gpu- msi geforce gtx 650ti

Ram- hyperX predator 8Gb (4Gb x2)

psu- CM silent pro 620watt

i some general gaming, but like to run multiple clients at the same time, while browsing youtube. The 650ti i currently have in my system is running hot (85-98c) always, and i feel it could be time for an upgrade. I need some direction in that department. Or should i just hold off on the graphics card, and upgrade my monitor. This is the one im looking at

No contest, upgrade your GPU next.

Then the monitor would be the next thing, imo.

Honestly, there's not going to have THAT big of a difference by getting a 1080p monitor. In fact, given that it's going to be fairly bigger, the pixel density will decrease, and image will look less sharp. That, on top of the fps going lower as well.

If your current card isn't handling it, then a new monitor is out of question.

Having said that, how much can you spend on a new GPU?

I was leaning more towards the gpu, im just really behind technology right now, seeing as how i dont even own a 1080p pc. I hate playing catch-up.

the most i could force myself to spend at this moment, ona gpu alone, would be around 350-400. But what would be a good otion in this price range? Ive read alot of reviews recently and as of now their all running together, so im kind of overwhelmed. Any suggestions are welcome!

At this price range, you are looking into one of 3 cards: R9 290, R9 290X or Gtx 970

The 290 is the cheapest, while still giving top notch performance. If you think you'll be tight on money, that's the way to go.

The 290x is right up there, being a stronger and more expensive option. But, I'd only get it if it's much cheaper than the 970, due to having slightly inferior performance, and about twice the power draw (as well as heat).

The 970 is probably the most expensive of the bunch. But it's also the strongest. It also boasts very low tdp, and you could even run an SLI setup in the future with your current PSU, provided your mobo supports it.

Personally, I'd stick with the 970 if you can. If you can't, I guess you are stuck with the 290(x).

Your GPU is your bottleneck for sure. Its way too under powered in contrast to the rest of your system.

I would definately go with the 970, but one last question. Would it be worth it to watercool this card, as i would definately be overclocking it.

There is no need, the Maxwell architecture is fairly efficient, and runs cools. so no need. What resolution are you planning to play on?

i plan to eventually play on 1080p, with high/ultra settings. I dont play FC3,BF4, or crysis 3. So i dont think i should have any problems with achieving that.

Currently my monitor only supports 1440x900 res. (I think thats right, at work right now.) But i know it doesnt go over 900
