New rig for encoding movies

Hi i was wondering what is the best pc set up for encoding movies?

Same as a gaming rig?

Go for a CPU with more cores, since encoding movies takes a lot of CPU horsepower. Something like Intel's i7 4790k is a great choice, and then use their included graphics to encode the vides. Linus explains Intel Quick Sync here, which you may want to try out depending on how many movies you are encoding:

Linus explains Intel Quick Sync here, which you may want to try out depending on how many movies you are encoding:

 

It is a great encoding CPU, but it does not include Iris Pro Graphics. Iris Pro graphics are Intel HD Graphics 5200 models which I believe are only available with mobile SKUs, not desktop.

 

In reality though the quicksync features will still kick some serious butt without the Iris Pro graphics, but you can probably do better with hardware acceleration and an Nvidia GTX 750Ti and an i7 of some sort

I am addicted to building gaming PCs but I don't have a great reason to stop...yet...
