Adding a Second Display

Go to solution Solved by Lolzious,

so i can just use one hdmi  connected monitor and one connected with dvi both comming out of the card closest to the Cpu socket?

Yup you got it!

So i plan on getting my second R9 290 in a few weeks once my paycheck comes in, i was wondering , where do i plug the second monitor into since my gpu only has one hdmi port each, as , I am running a

Acer H6 H276HLbmid 27" presently and thinking of adding the 23"version of the same monitor.  what, do you think about the mixing of sizes, will this create issues, as from what i see, people are using the same size and the same monitors I plan on using the 23'' to monitor my twitch chat, and the other for gaming, any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I don't like varying sizes, but some people don't mind it.

You can get an HDMI to DVI adapter, or just get a monitor with the input you need.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to get a display port cable, or DVI, or DVI to HDMI or display port to HDMI, to plug it in to your current card.

As for monitor sizes, you'll be fine with different sizes, as long as you aren't gaming on both of them.

Mixing sizes will take some getting used to, but it shouldn't create issues if both monitors are the same resolution. Grab a DisplayPort to HDMI (if your card has mDP or DP) adapter and plug both monitors into the top card.

I mean their both 1080p monitors so i didnt think i would be issues, i mean i could just as easily get the 27, i just wouldnt have much remaining real estate on my desk.

Well the annoying thing is that the two monitors don't line up, but then may or may not be annoying to you -- it's something thats completely opinion based.
