Having trouble during installation

Hey, 

 

I was installing windows 7 for a friend the other day and when I got to the HDD partitioning screen

 

1. it didn't allow me to delete any of the partitions.

2. I couldn't format any of the drives except the one which had the previous OS on it.

What was the error that you got?

Did you download the extracted SATA controller driver (*.inf), and put it on a USB key or disk, and in Windows 7 setup, on that partitioning screen, click on Load Driver, and load them in? If not, try that. It's probably the SATA controller driver is missing.
