Looking To Build A Cheap Linux Box

Hey guys a couple days ago I got myself into Ubuntu and now I love it! I was using a really old Dell workstation with a Pentium 3 and it runs Ubuntu fine but obliviously not blazing fast, quiet, and low power consumption. I was looking into something small like mini ATX case and a GTX750 ti. But I don't really lnow much about hard ware compatibility or the best price to performance. I want to be able to move it from upstairs to my living room and use it on my TV and some light gaming.

Hey guys a couple days ago I got myself into Ubuntu and now I love it! I was using a really old Dell workstation with a Pentium 3 and it runs Ubuntu fine but obliviously not blazing fast, quiet, and low power consumption. I was looking into something small like mini ATX case and a GTX750 ti. But I don't really lnow much about hard ware compatibility or the best price to performance. I want to be able to move it from upstairs to my living room and use it on my TV and some light gaming.

You should not use Nvidia on Ubuntu, Nvidia doesnt care much about anything exept Windows

It is a M-ITX build meant for cheap, solid gaming and low power consumption.

Ryan specifically said in the video, this is great if you already have the system, do not buy a prebuilt to make this.

 

 

 

Have you considered mITX? There are basic 1150 ITX motherboards that are pretty affordable, pair it with a pentium/ i3 and you have a decent low power system there.

It will Destroy any console, There is not much more to ask for.

The 5350 performs Very good, Here is pcper's review on it, They tested it with a 750ti, The 750ti and R7 260x performs about the same.

I second the Nvidia doesn't care about Linux. You'll have better luck with AMD or Intel graphics. Personally I would go with a I3 4130T and a R7 260x. Also avoid a motherboard with built in wireless. The popular stand alone wifi receivers seem to be supported by the kernel better from what I've found.
