Sandy bridge overclocking

I'm trying to OC my 2700K, but every time I boot into windows it boosts to 4.2, and idles at the standard 1.6GHz, what setting do I need to change to have it always run at the OC speed?

Z68 chipset if that's a necessary piece of information.

did you set it to fixed ratio?

or are you overclocking the turbo values?

why would you want to overclock so that it's always on max clock? Produces more heat and needs more power only so you can read 4.2GHz? :D

I was always curious why people oc the normal clock, it makes no sense to always run at 4-5ghz! 0.o

Im not sure how to set it to fixed ratio, I'm a complete novice when it comes to overclocking, and this is my first attempt..

 

I think I may be OCing the turbo values.

I'm curious as to why you have a 2600K and an h100....but have not overclocked it.

Im gonna oc it when i get my new gpu! :D it has enough power for now and the h100 is to keep it quiet and cool even without oc :P

Decided not to bother with trying to OC the base clock. I'm extremely happy with my turbo clock OC'd to 4.5.

That's a simple fix just change your power settings to high performance
