So I'm trying to decide on a new monitor and I have managed to bring the list down to only two monitors. I picked them for the price, size of panel, refresh rates, and height adjust stands. I'm having trouble deciding because the Benq monitor is not an IPS monitor, but it is slightly larger at 24in versus 23in. However, I'm not sure if I'll like the matte screen on the Benq monitor versus the semi-gloss finish on the Asus display. Does anybody own any of these displays or have any input?

Why are you comparing a 3D conversion monitor to the BenQ? I'd ditch both of those and get the Asus PB238Q.

well i can tell you that matte screens are cool because they don't reflect a whole bunch of stuff when the place gets bright but then glossy screens make everything feel vibrant.

that's probably out of his price range ?

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))

the 3D capability isn't something I'll use, but its an IPS display which is why I'm interested.

It is 14$ more, for a much better display than the VG23AH, which I thought wasn't a big enough difference to rule out.

I really think you should consider the PB238Q. It is a great IPS panel, has a matte finish, and in my opinion the image quality of an IPS far outweighs the response time when compared to the BenQ monitor. And you aren't interested in 3D anyway. Unless you are a competitive or really enthusiastic gamer, fast TN panels aren't for you.

That does look like a pretty good option. I'll definitely consider it. I don't know why I didn't come across it.  I

Is the matte finish a big deal in terms of the quality of the image? I'm used to glossy displays.

Not really. Depending on the kind of coat, it could actually make some aspects very very slightly worse (brightness, saturation, contrast). It really is up to personal preference. Modern matte coats are actually pretty great.

I would only get a glossy panel if I'm sure I'm going to use the monitor in a controlled lighting environment (or ideally a dark room).

The matte finish helps to almost completely negate glare from lights or the sun, so best image quality in all lights and angles.

The PB238Q also has the better stand being that it has height, tilt, swivel, and pivot capability.  The pivot (I think I get pivot and swivel confused sometimes) lets you work on docs or programs with allot more vertical space compared to horizontal space letting you see more then a page at a time while still being able to read what you are typing.
