I have a motherboard with 6 consecutive ram slots , my question is can I run proper dual channel by plugging ram into slots 1,2 then 5,6 and skip the middle 2 slots . I wanna do this for cable management and it would allow me to add an additional noctua fan on my cpu cooler to extra airflow

I have 6 slots because my board support triple channel memory ( which isn't worth it for gaming )

ga x58 ud3r revision 2 .

I have 4 dimms total so just wondering if skipping the middle 2 slots would break proper dual channel or ruin bus speeds

as far as I know you should be good... I never rly had a triple channel mobo, but probably its all the same.. just try it out dont be scared :P... download cpuz and look if its in dual channel... easy :)
