CPU bottleneck?

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

Here benchmarking done with an haswell core i7 and a GTX 780 in that game at various settings (same config i use, even the CPU is clocked the same i run mine at 4.2ghz)...i've found these to be very accurate and in the ball park of the performance i get out of my gaming rig (specs in signature) if your's doesnt run this game at this level then i have no choice but to point at your CPU honestly.

I guess I should wait till next-generation cpu. Just hope my system don't die before it comes out.

i think at this point it's almost certain that broadwell CPU's where only aimed for mobile chips...and skylake should be the next generation of CPU for desktop PC's...it will be on a new socket (1151 i think) and should support DDR4 memory...i think skylake is said to release sometimes in 2015.

If I were you i'd just keep the current setup for now, and add another 780 in SLI if you need the graphics power.

Skylake is coming out in Q3 so you may as well hold out for that if you arent in desperate need of an upgrade.

LGA1366 has plenty of PCI-E bandwidth for supporting 2-way SLI.

Games in general do NOT use the 3GB of VRAM at 1080p so Video memory will be fine.

CPU speed becomes more of a problem with games that are constantly loading from drives.

In saying this though, your FPS should for the most part be fine, it would just be loading times and texture loading in large scale MMO's that are mainly affected.

With Slower CPU's, an SSD can help illeviate this problem.

get the second 780 if thats what you want, you can always upgrade platforms later and still have 2 badass gpu's.

also a thought, if you happen to have a x58 motherboard...i'd say get a x5650 for 70 bucks and oc the crap out of it.

This. It will give you life into your computer until Skylake/Zen come out. Overclocked these will be able to handle almost any game you throw at it, but you may want a decent CPU cooler to overclock it. You can look at the CPU benchmarks to see where it stands, which when overclocked it does have very decent single core, and amazing multi core performance.

Recently i got Intel 530 series ssd it helped a lot.
