I just tested one of Linus' Techquicky videos on my mother when trying to talk her through the task of Disk De-fragmentation...and It worked, for context, I just recently had to explain how to drag a tab from google chrome onto her desktop so that she could have it minimized separate from the other tabs, and to give you an idea of how difficult that is to do over the phone, during this possess she asked:

"whats a desktop?"
"It's the place with your wallpaper" I replied

"what's a wallpaper?" she asked
*Facepalm*

to talk her through that simple task took about 30 minutes. So thank you Techquicky, you made it possible to explain to her the what and whys so that I could focus on the how, cut my work load down to 5-10 minutes.

Why do you always die right after I fix you?

This is how I would have handled it:

 

"whats a desktop?"
"It's the place with your wallpaper" 

"what's a wallpaper?"
"it's on the desktop"

"whats a desktop?"
"It's the place with your wallpaper" I replied

"what's a wallpaper?"
"it's on the desktop"
