Hey guys,

So recently i decided that i wanted to reinstall windows 8.1/ Factory reset. The process was very simple and consisted of clicking a few buttons in settings. So the computer tells me its is going to restart to contine. It begins to restart and then all of my monitors go to standby mode. I leave my PC for a few hours and when i return i am greeted with both monitors still in standby. I attempt to see if they will wake up - wiggle the mouse, left/right click, hit a few keys on the keyboard. Nothing worked so i left the PC to run for a few more hours and when i return there is still nothing. I have now powered the PC down and when i try to power it on again i am greeted with more black screens. What does this mean?

Thanks

Ben Cooper

My board is a Lenovo Cih61miV1.1 . It has been taken from a Lenovo H520s. i have tried removing the gpu - no success. Do you reccomend removing any other particular components?

Try the hard drive(s). If not that, reseat the RAM/CPU, if not that, your board is dead.

I tried plugging the drive that contains my windows files on a linux PC and it came up with an error saying that it couldn't mount the drive because the drive was in an un-safe state due to windows still running. Does this mean the whole drive may be corrupt?

Yep. It's probably why your system can't POST.

The ntfs partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume read-only with the "ro" mount option.
