Laptop Cooling Issues

Hey Guys! I have a slight problem.

 

So, before I upgraded to my Desktop I had a laptop, not a shabby one either.

 

It was an HP Envy M6 (AMD Version) That I upgraded from 6gbs of ram to 8gbs.

 

I gave it to my mom who uses it for basic searching and what not.

 

But the laptop randomly turns off at random times saying on reboot "Computer shut down to prevent overheating"

 

Even if the computer is mildly warm it will do this.

 

Any suggestions?

If she uses it on a desk, try putting a semi-fat book under it without blocking the vents, helped me for 6 months until the dust just completely messed with the heatsink.
