Node 304 Case Mod - Moar Air Flow!

This is my first case mod, so go easy on me. :P It's not perfectly neat and tidy but it achieved the goal I had in mind and looks pretty cool (IMO).

The issue was with a high-end GPU in the Node 304, the only exhaust is out the back - which happens to be through the CPU rad in my case. Not good for the CPU and it doesn't exhaust the hot air fast enough, so during gaming, things get pretty warm inside the case. The goal was to add an 80mm exhaust fan on the top near the back, just above the GPU where the GPU fans are pumping off the majority of it's heat. The idea is to exhaust out as much of that hot air as possible, to the H60 rad fan can pull more air from the fresh cool supply coming in at the front from the dual 92mm intake fans.

After some testing, the GPU now runs about 6 degrees cooler (63-64 vs. 69-70) and the CPU runs about 8-10 degrees cooler (45-50 vs. 55-60). That was while running Lords of the Fallen. Running other games yielded even better temp improvements, dependent on varying CPU usage. Objective complete! :D

Now for the pics...

Fitting the cheap Deepcool blue LED 80mm fan (the only 80mm spare I had laying around):

Whipped up some quick little mounting brackets...

Yep, it's blue.

Point of no return... The cutting began...

Went through about 15 of these little cutting discs. They did the job, none-the-less.

Debated on how to make the "vent" - Drill a bunch of holes? Cut out a big square? Decided that "shark-gills" not only would look cool but also deflect the hot air away from the user. ;)

I woulda cut all of it out and put mesh over it on the inside.

It doesn't look too bad.

That was my initial plan, but I like the shark gills. ;)
