PSU MAYHEM

Go to solution Solved by karl0508,

I have a CX500 and it's great, and the CX500M is the semi-modular variant of that

Thank you, I will go for it.

Corsair CXs are fine, but Seasonic makes some great PSUs.

Thank you as well, i'm doing this build and shall en devour to do a bigger build where i may try sea sonic.

Hello

Super super confused one what psu to use, i'm building a Mini ITX Build in a small case so need semi/fully modular, i did chose one but been told no to the Corsair CX600M 80+ certified.

Any suggestions?

Heres my build

I plan to add watercooling later on maybe like a h60/80

Why an APU? If you are planning on using a GPU, get the 8320/8350 + a 970 chipset mobo. Also, the CX500M would be more than enough to power that system.

The CX600M is modular (well, the essential cables are attatched, such as the 24 pin connector) if that's what you're asking

However, you don't need a 600w power supply, something like a 500w might be more suitable, if you're not planning to crossfire

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

go intel

I've seen you post on multiple topics saying "go intel" instead of an AMD build. Not everyone can afford Intel/Nvidia combos.

Yes, I'm an Intel and an Nvidia fan, but please contribute to a discussion and leave your fanboyism-biases elsewhere.

I understand that, but are they good psu's or would you have a better recommendation?

Because i can't afford a desrete GPU at the moment but plan to make it so as i can add later on without need for new PSU

I'd say go with an Intel CPU, like the Intel i5 4460 (if you're on a tight budget) or, if you can afford it, the i5 4690/4690K and pair that with a AMD R9 270/280 (if you can). ;)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

if people have a 500 dollar build or more they can afford intel and nvidia if they put some effort in i am not a fanboy but i have had bad experiences with amd And besides amd dont make Fx cpu's anymore

Get something like a 500 ~ 500W superflower psu, I heard that they are really good

Also please stay away from that APU, go for intel core i3 + B85 instead

The CX series are acceptable, entry unit. The CX600M would be more than plenty for your system. The CX430M could also power that system.

Whether or not it is worth the purchase will depend on the price and availability of other units.

I can get a CX600 for £38 my mate bought it and found his system needed 750w, so will sell it me cheap
