My dad's making a workstation computer for 3D rendering and processing. I've got most of the stuff, but I just can't decide; AMD or Intel for the CPU and AMD or Nvidia for visuals. The Graphics card needs to be OpenGL compatible. There is some sort of budget so no "HNNG GET A 3960X OR A 3930K." or "HURNK GET A TITAN OR A 7990." For both need to be around $600.

CPU: AMD FX 8320e | Mobo: Gigabyte GA‑78LMT‑USB3 | Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper n520 | RAM: 8Gb @ 1333MHz

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 mITX | PSU: Antec HCG 520w | Storage: Sandisk 120GB - WD Red 1TB | Case: Modded IBM A50 sleeper

All displayed on an AOC I2421VWH

Did you buy the other parts yet? If not, what's the overall total budget?

Not yet.

So far I've got:

CPU: FX:8350

GPU: HD 7950 3GB

RAM: 16GB @ 1866MHz

MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3

HDD: WD Black 1TB

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB

PSU: Corsair HX650 650 Watt

Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14

Case: Fractal Design Define XL

CD Drive: DWR

OS: Win 7 Home Premium. (doesn't need all the bells and whistles)

All for around $1503

I could probably bump up a hundred bucks or 2, but that's pushing it.

I honestly don't think the 780 is worth it for more than half a grand, so what I changed was:

GPU: GTX 770 4GB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

SSD: Samsung 840 120GB

PSU: Corsair CX600M

(ripped the HDD and the PSU from WoodenMarker's build)

I opted for the faster RAM for all the editing this thing is aimed for.

He also wants the retail copy of Win7 just in case something screws up.

The total price for this one is about $1568 + S&H.
